Guiding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people back to wellbeing

Yudhilidin is focused on culturally safe recovery to improve the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with living with mental illness.

Yudhilidin offers a flexible stepped-care model that can include psychosocial support, clinical support as well as targeted suicide prevention.

A Yudhilidin Peer Navigator will help you navigate the health system and connect you with the right services and supports so you can achieve your recovery goals.

Am I eligible for support?

You are eligible for support if you are 16years or older, your mental health and wellbeing issues are impacting your daily life and you live in the Newcastle, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie or Hunter Valley catchment area.

How can Yudhilidin help me?

There are three different components to Yudhilidin:

  1. Peer Navigation: Psychosocial peer support to help you on your path to recovery.
Your Peer Navigator will work with you to identify your health and well-being goals, help you to link with culturally appropriate services in your community and support you to make meaningful connections with services to improve your well-being.
  2. Care Coordination: Clinical support available for people with severe and complex mental health needs. A Mental Health Clinician will provide a thorough assessment and clinical support to support your recovery. They will often work in collaboration with the Peer Navigator.
  3. Postvention Support: Targeted suicide prevention including supporting those bereaved by suicide. The postvention worker can help you with safety planning and to work through the grief and loss process by linking to counselling and other support services as needed.

What type of services will Yudhilidin help me to connect with?

  • mental health services including counsellors and psychologists
