Ella is an Occupational Therapist with experience working with people living with complex mental health conditions. She strongly values person-centred care and taking the time to get to know clients by building therapeutic rapport. With a history of working in forensic mental health, she ensures to see the person first and not just the diagnosis. Ella believes everyone has a unique story and deserves to be treated as the expert in their own care and recovery journey.
Occupational Therapists can help clients who are having difficulties with everyday occupations, 'occupations' are any task that someone may want or need to do within everyday life, this could be anything from brushing their teeth, cooking, learning to play golf or building a routine. Occupations are each task that make up your day and 'occupy' your time.
Ella has a special interest in supporting clients to achieve their goals by being creative and flexible in the assessment and intervention offered to meet their individual needs. Ella considers the person, environment and occupation and how they connect/intertwine and impact someone's functional capacity.
Ella approaches her work through letting her bubbly personality shine and making personal connections with others. She loves a chat and laugh, and could talk about her dog, Ramen who is a Boston Terrier all day. Despite being born and bred in sunny Newcastle, Ella spends most of her holiday's snowboarding, eating endless pasta and enjoying freezing weather.
