Indigenous artist, Maree Bisby, is a Wiradjuri woman from the Mow Gee clan in Mudgee. Born and raised on Awabakal land, Maree uses her connection to country as a tool to keep the art of Aboriginal storytelling alive.
Hunter Primary Care commissioned Maree to create a piece of art to demonstrate the range of health and wellbeing services our organisation provides to the community. The art is called 'Shadowed in Secrecy' which is proudly displayed at our Warabrook office.
A Shadow begins to creep over the soul and darkness envelopes the person we once were.
Seemingly out of nowhere, confusion kicks in to what is real, what is fantasy? Why can't the simple be achieved within the realms of reality?
A mask is something we often wear so the outside world cannot acknowledge the darkness within. Let us begin the journey to wellness with compassion, integrity, empathy and support from professionals and family alike.
A mirror is often used to remind us who we are, where and who we want to be?
How do you begin to heal when the mirror and your soul has been smashed, beyond recognition, search for the answers on your own terms, in your own way, use the natural healing properties of your soul, your connections, your ancestor to begin?
Twists and turns, nothing straight forward we allow the organic healing powers of wellness to empower us day by day, little by little, towards the sparkle of life.
Hoping to achieve the fulfilment of wholeness one day, however knowing that we will never be the same again. Is this weakness or strength which allows us to out the pieces back together no matter how jagged they are?
Hunter Primary Care falls under one banner, however has many facets to its name. Many areas, many workers, many patients, all needing a helping hand on their journey.
No matter which site is being utilised, they all know that they are supported and have the same level of professionalism connected on all sides by the beliefs, ethics and understanding of what is needed to assist in the path towards healing.
