headspace Newcastle, in conjunction with Newcastle Museum recently showcased some amazing up-and-coming musicians for the Young Guns, Music at the Museum event, held at Newcastle Museum.

The event, which coincided with World Mental Health Day, was an opportunity for musicians keen to perform and network with other musicians, and attracted more than 150 young people who attended to support young musician performances ranging from country and western duos, metal bands to rappers.

One performer, Hannah, said “music brings people together in a supportive community and creates a common bond.  It helps me whether I’m listening to music or playing along with other people.  It’s also good to learn from others”, she said.

“There’s limited opportunities for young musicians to perform and we wanted to do something about it, we’re aiming to host a series of gigs over the next few months”, said Byron.

Behind the scenes, headspace Newcastle is also working on its 2025 calendar, created with the theme of “love”.  Submissions have been received from local young artists, expressing how they connect with the things they love.  The calendar will be available later this year.
