Hunter Primary Care is proud to be delivering the highly successful Aged Care Nursing Clinical Placements Program, supported by funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
Since launching the program in 2023, our team have provided over 180 nursing students with hands-on clinical experience in aged care in the Hunter, New England and Central Coast regions, helping them to develop the practical skills needed to support the unique healthcare needs of older Australians. Due to its success, we are excited to announce that we now have additional funding to expand the program into the Mid North and North Coast regions of NSW, ensuring even greater access to high-quality aged care training.
Through this program, students gain invaluable exposure to the aged care sector early in their careers, fostering a deeper understanding of gerontological care and encouraging more nurses to pursue rewarding careers in aged care. The program is open to students enrolled in Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing and now Diploma of Nursing courses.
At Hunter Primary Care, we are committed to equipping students with the best possible support throughout their placements. With access to trained clinical facilitators and an online resource hub, students will be able to further enhance their knowledge and skills in delivering high-quality care to older people.
We are proud to continue working alongside fellow providers, Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA), Pop-Up Health, University of Canberra and Brightwater Care Group, in delivering this vital initiative.
