As part of our commitment to reconciliation and cultural learning, Hunter Primary Care was honoured to host a special art workshop during National Reconciliation Week 2025, guided by the Aboriginal Women’s Art Group from Muloobinba Aboriginal Corporation's Nikinpa Centre.

The workshop invited staff to paint individual gum leaves, each representing a personal reflection on reconciliation. These leaves will be brought together by the Art Group to form a large collaborative wreath, which will be framed and proudly displayed in our office. The event provided a relaxed, welcoming space for staff to ask questions, share stories, and deepen their understanding of the importance of reconciliation in our everyday lives.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, Bridging Now to Next, encourages all Australians to reflect on the progress made and continue taking meaningful action towards a more just and equitable future. The use of native plants in the 2025 campaign artwork, including the gum leaf, symbolises resilience, growth, and the deep spiritual connection to Country held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples — making this artistic collaboration especially significant.

We thank Aunty Jill, Aunty Helen and Aunty Tracey for generously sharing their time, cultural knowledge and creativity with us.
