Celebrating Cheryl Wallace: A Shining Light in Nursing and Community Service

At Hunter Primary Care, we are proud to have staff who not only bring exceptional skill and experience to their work, but who also embody our values of care, compassion and community. One such team member is Cheryl Wallace, our Aged Care Nursing Clinical Placement Program clinical facilitator.

With more than 45 years of nursing experience, Cheryl’s career spans an extraordinary range of roles in public health, infectious diseases, hospital management, audiometry, clinical governance, and nursing education. Her expertise even extends internationally, having contributed to a maternal health project in West Africa.

Cheryl’s commitment to health and wellbeing reaches far beyond her professional life. In recognition of her incredible service to the community, she was recently nominated for the 2025 Local Woman of the Year (Central Coast) award. This nomination reflects her tireless contributions through Surf Life Saving (SLS) where she is actively involved on Patrol, serves as a First Aider, Bronze Medallion holder, and is the Director of Education. She also volunteers with Oz Harvest, helping to reduce food waste and fight food insecurity.

Her community spirit has been a constant throughout her life. Before relocating to the Central Coast in 2020, Cheryl served as a Volunteer Rural Fire Service (RFS) operational firefighter and a local Landcare coordinator on the NSW South Coast, including during the devastating Black Summer Fires. Her dedication to preserving the environment reflects her deep belief in the vital connection between a healthy planet and the wellbeing of future generations.
Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Cheryl leads an active lifestyle and treasures time with her family. She is a proud mother of three and grandmother of eight, and enjoys hiking, swimming, cycling, and the occasional triathlon to stay connected to the beautiful Central Coast environment.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Cheryl as part of our team. Her wealth of knowledge, compassion, and leadership provide invaluable guidance to our nursing students, who benefit enormously from her experience and dedication.

At Hunter Primary Care, we celebrate Cheryl not only as a skilled nurse and educator, but also as an inspiring example of how one person can make a profound difference in both healthcare and the community.
