Ngangkari are Aboriginal traditional healers from the Western Desert in Central Australia, which includes the Pitjantjatjara, Ngaanyatjarra and Yankunytjatjara peoples. The Ngangkari members of ANTAC come from different communities in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankuntjatjara Lands.

The Ngangkari practice centuries old therapeutic techniques that have been passed on through generations. The Ngangkari are born with the gift of healing and their practice is increasingly becoming commonplace in Western health settings to work beside medical doctors, particularly in South Australia.

The Ngangkari healers treat spiritual, mental and physical ailments and believe they can help the Indigenous community in a holistic way.

To support First Nations Peoples in our region, Hunter Primary Care’s ambition is to welcome the Ngangkari healers back to our community as soon as we possibly can.
