Funding has been made available to Hunter Primary Care via the local Primary Health Network to provide psychological counselling and support to people whose lives have been affected by the PFAS contamination in and around the Williamtown area.

People who live or work or have lived or worked in the affected areas in the last 15 years.

People affected by the Williamtown contamination can promptly be provided up to six appointments with an experienced Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist, with access to a further six if required.

Services are provided at our head office in Newcastle, as well as our outreach offices in East Lake Macquarie (Jewells), West Lake Macquarie (Toronto), Maitland, Port Stephens (Medowie), and Singleton.

For people residing in Dungog, Gloucester, Taree and Forster or other areas of New England or Central Coast, refer to the HNECC PHN website for information on access to local providers in those regions.

There is no cost to the patient to access this service.

GP Referrals

GPs can refer directly by sending a comprehensive referral letter and/or a completed Mental Health Treatment Plan (not essential) to HPC Psychology Services on the confidential fax number 4929 7072.

Self Referrals

Patients can self-refer by contacting HPC Psychology Services on 4926 0529.

All health/personal information gathered during provision of these services will be covered by the usual privacy and confidentiality guidelines. No identifying information will be provided to the PHN or the Commonwealth Department of Health.
