PHN-Funded Psychological Services
Free and accessible mental health support
Hunter Primary Care provides a range of fully funded mental health programs designed to support children, young people and adults in our community. These programs are funded by Hunter New England Primary Health Network (The PHN) and delivered at no cost to people who meet eligibility criteria.
Our goal is to make mental healthcare accessible, compassionate and culturally safe, especially for people who may find it difficult to access support elsewhere. Our team includes psychologists, social workers, counsellors, peer workers and other experienced professionals who tailor care to your individual needs.
Our programs are designed to support people in our community who:
- Experience financial hardship or barriers in accessing mental health treatment
- Are at risk of suicide and self-harm
- Identify as First Nations
- Identify as culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
- Identify as LGBTQ+
- Are older and may be living alone or experiencing isolation
- Are in the perinatal period.
What we offer
Our mental health programs include:
- Individual mental health interventions and counselling (up to 12 sessions)
- Group-based programs

All services are delivered locally by experienced clinicians who provide person-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe care.
